Default 05 Type-S Exhaust "vs"

I'm going to try to get some info here as ClubRSX only hypes products to no end. Nobody has any proof of anything. They just claim what exahust everyone should get because they have it, and the manufacture claims they have great gains.

From what we all have read the 05 RSX has a better flowing exahust from the earlier years. My question is what exhaust will outperform the stock exhaust for daily driving?

Of course a 2.5 straight through should perform better, but I'm talking about daily driving. Are some of these exhaust systems hurting performance instead of helping?

Does anyone here have a dyno of before and after on the 05-S? I don't want to spend money on a chambered exhaust system if there would be no gains or a loss.

if you were only concerned about daily driving, then u wouldn't spend money to get any "power mods" . sry man but yer like asking wierd questions. no exhaust system would make your car perform significantly better below 4000rpm when you daily drive. everything is targeted towards balancing high rpm flow and noise streetability.

According to Honda/Acura performance book, most aftermarket exhaust systems might actually hurt performance since stock is already good. My personal belief is that some will improve slightly but only with good CAI. It should DYNO losses thru entire RPM of about 1-3 HP but with AEM V2 which improved 6-10 HP by itself and another 2-4 hp with several systems including Greddy and DC sports.

i really don't think its worth getting rid of the 05's exhaust at all... i mean, at least not for a while, or unless you plan on doing some serious modding right out the gate, and it's absolutely necessary, but even then i'm not sure. the 05's exhaust is real nice and provides good flow, so you should be straight. i'd chill with it for a while.

I have a ITR exhuast and they are not exactly the same.

I guess I should have provided more info. I am use to "upgrading as a system" I/H/C/E is a system. They all have to work together. I do plan on an Icebox setup because I don't want my filter getting wet.

I was considering a Header, but it has to have the cat. I need to pass emissions. Jackson racing is the only (quality header) that is affordable that has that. I'm not spending $2,000 on mugen. lol So I think I will be ok with the 05 exhaust because I don't want straight through. It's a nice car and I don't want it annoyingly loud. After Intake and header, I'll wait for Hondata to come out with a program. Hopefully that will put me at 200whp.

In the meantime if any 05 owners have a dyno of before and after with an exhaust only or I/E please post it up. I don't want to upgrade if I don't have to. As it is I have to save up for a coilover system.

Are the exhaust manifolds the same from 02-04 to 05? I know the fitment is the same but internally are they the samek or does the flow "better"?

Well i have an 05 type s cat back on my base. Coupled with a injen cai and a dc shorty my gains arent bad. I didnt lose any low end really, got a decent gain uptop, and still have a stock look. Its not loud either. It sounds great imo. I dont have any numbers but the 05 type s exhaust is a great system the way it is. Just stick with it for now. It would be a lota money for barely anything but noise.
