Default DAMNIT, NO HOT AIR!! AND "OVERHEATING"

90 crx si
R/R thermostat, i flushed the cooling system. still nothing. so i'm thinking it's the water pump, cuz it dosnt' seem to be circulating around and the hoses on the bottom of the radiator are cold. and i don't think it's pumping it around into the heater core, thus not blowing hot air.

so i start going for the water pump, and i can't even get to it.

i've taken off the valve cover, ac belt, pully, motor mount, top of the timing cover, alternator mounting bracket and belt. now the thing stoping me is the pully.

you have to take off the main pully bolt, then pully, then 2 more bolts that hold the timing cover.

so all this **** just to get at the water pump.... wow

-:help

you have to take off the crank pully and timing belt to get the water pump off but i would check to see if you have either a bad thermostat or its in wrong because if the top rad hose is hot that means the water pump is pumping

I think one of main reasons of getting no heat. And car overheats is that either you doesent have enough coolant, or you have some serious airbubbles in system.

Open your "airscrew" from cylinder head piping. And adjust your heater to HOT. Adjust it manually from engine compartment to make sure your wire is not broken or disconnected.

Now start your engine and open the airscrew, when there is no more bubbles coming out. Close it and wait for a sec. Open again, and repeat the action if bubbles are coming.

Its almost impossible that the waterpump is not spinning. If the water is not running, something is blocked your system. Dirt or something.

i had to bleed my coolant system 3 times to get all of the air bubbles out. i would fill-bleed-drive-bleed-drive-bleed. and then check if it needed to be filled.

To my knowledge, if your water pump took a **** and did not spin, the either

1. You would be leaking mad coolant, or

2. you would throw your timing belt.

I've seen both happen.

I would check for air in the system.

I had the same symptoms, and posted a thread about it. Search for it ... water pump was spinning but impeller was corroded to nothing, so no coolant was flowing.

where is the coolant system "bleeder"

i just got done looking at the water pump, and there's nothing wrong with it. so i need to make sure that it can circulate around.

so now i need to fill the radiator back up w/ coolant, and then bleed it..
