Default Autocrossers & roadracers, check out my new (big) pics of my tire trailer...comments welcome

I thought some of the non-Type R people might want to see this. Sorry for the double post.

Cool I'm thinking about getting one but it would slow down my highway crusing speed of 100mph so it may have to wait.

But are you going to mount a tool box on the trailer for your jack, tent and other crap?? Have you seen the design of this Miata person trailer yet?? That is what I'll be looking to do if I get the same trailer.

If you get one of those truck boxes and bolt it to the trailer bed in a few places it should be fine and make is more aerodynamic too.

Looks like a Harbor Freight special, lots of people around here use them in various configurations.

You can still drive fast with a trailer, I've averaged over 100 to events with the kart and 4 tires for the car. My trailer is a bit longer, though, and I imagine more stable. I converted a small boat trailer by adding a wood frame and toolbox (from home depot). It can carry the kart plus 6-8 tires, or an ***-load of tires/cooler/tent/etc.

We have the same hitch as well, if you take the stickers off it hides pretty well under the bumper, particularly on a black car.

My only suggestions would be to put the tires in the back and mount a cargo box up front. The cargo box when loaded will be a lot heavier than the tires when full.(It's incredible how much stuff you actually carry to and from events) If you put all that stuff in the trunk, It will bottom out the rear suspension when travelling (tongue weight plus rear cargo weight). This way you can balance the tongue weight and use the rest of the traailer space also. Make room in the box for a jack, tools, and apron (so you're not filthy after an event of changin tires) an umbrella, extra lug studs (don;t ask) and some misc spares (plus, cpa rotor wires).

I am usuallt grossly over pre-prepared but on several occasions, I've "loaned" out stuff. Met alot of really cool people that way.

Yea, I'll see how heavy the carbo bin is compared to the tires/wheels, and arrange accordingly. Without the trailer, I reached a point where there was ONLY room in my car for me (just barely, too) with everything loaded up. Maybe now I can actually take someone to the race with me The longer I do this, the more stuff I bring with me

BTW, this is the Harbor Freight special. Very inexpensive vs. many of the special order tire/tool trailers I have seen for this same purpose.
