I have 16” rims that are cast aluminum and my tires are VERY thin, 205/40/16. the sidewall is very small, and the tire was the wrong size. Because of this, the air pressure must be VERY high, like 38psi so that the rim doesn’t get damaged. I was running at 33psi and that wasn’t enough. I hit a hard pothole and my 2 right rims are now out of round, meaning there slightly bent so they aren’t 100% balanced. Its noticeable on the highway at 85mpg, a light vibration. I may replace those rims and get a 205/50 profile, which is slightly taller than stock, but better than shorter.
