oil smell?
I am considering buying a 93 accord, that has a swap with 400 miles, its a jdm h22.
well I took it for a drive and after the drive I could smell oil, well after looking over the engine a bit. The smell was coming from the intake manifold, the owner claims its needs a new manifold gasket. Now would needing that gasket cause that problem? I have had b series swaps but never dealt with an h22.
thanks

ok not really helping here..hehe.
any advice would be much appreciated, I am getting a a hell of a deal on the car. So that is why I am asking.
Well guess I should ask what everyone thinks(if this is a good deal).
Its a 93 SE, super clean(2 door dings nothing else), lowered on coil overs(not sure what brand yet), camber kits, set of 17's(new tires). projector headlights, tinted windows, and a H22 with only 2500 miles(all repeicts). It has that small problem and nothing else mechanicly. Tranny is even new. Its an auto which is a down side but will work for a daily driver.

I don't really know H-engines, but here's a couple ideas...
I usually can't avoid spilling some oil from the filter down onto the exhaust. That smells for a day or 2.
You can check the PCV system for leaky grommets or cracked hoses. Maybe it's crankcase vapors you're smelling?
I don't think intake manifold gasket would leak oil. It would be a vacuum leak, or coolant. I don't think any oil goes there.
Oil pressure switch (for the idiot light). Is that on the H block sorta where it is on a B-engine? Maybe the best way to see it is drive up on ramps & lay underneath.

I think thats what I am going to do, really hoping this is just minor, he is only asking $4100. Pretty sure its just a gasket somewhere and shouldn't be to bad. The oil smell is really light, but he even mentioned that he smells everytime he drives it for a while.
