Default TO TINT or not to tint :crook:

I Just got my crx back on the road the other day, after i took it off for the winter after it got broken into and **** got jacked.

So i got a new stereo, and i'm getting my xm all wired back up , much better this time cause its permanent.

I am toying with the idea of having the windows tinted, as a security precaution so its not as easy to look in the car and see things. I usually take my face plate off the alpine now to be safe, but the xm tuner might still be in plane site, havent decided yet.

Do u think tinting the windows would be counterproductive? IN the regards of it drawing more attention to the car by ricers, thieves AND cops? As well as hindering me when on the race track?? It would be lighter tint of course, but i havent used tint since my first car.... so i'm not sure

Off-topic: Instant messages were invented for a reason, dude..

Anyways, I think tint depends a wee bit on the colour of your car.. fx. black tint looks utter ***** on a grey rex, tbh.

it usually depend on ur state, sum r more lenient w that stuff. what state r u in?? in my state i think its 35 but I've never went by the guide lines, im puttin 20 on mine this summer. I've been pulled over in the past and have never gotten in trouble for illegal tint. i usually play the dumb blond routine, and say "i didn't no officer, im so sorry" cops r such suckers for that ****, unless u get a chik cop

I think it also depends on what is on the outside of your car. Is there anything that draws attention out there? I think that depending on your area, thieves will be thieves and will find out what you have one way or another. I would tint, but also don't use it as a failsafe. I would take other precautions as well like, XM where it can't be seen, alarm- mount the indicator light where it can be easily seen, take off the face, etc. Ya never really know whether it will help or not...

do you live in california? because cops will pull you over if its too dark
heck....my aunt was driving my 93 accord that had faded tint(cuz its old) on it and she still got pulled over..... oh well their glendalePD(they can't find anyone to catch)

if you want it soo bad just roll down your windows and wait for the cops to pass.

i live in ny , and they can be dicks about it up here. My firebird has 10% on it and its a white car. Its literally black on white. I got pulled over for tint once, and pulled over NUMERous OTHER times, and i just always had the windows rolled down when they came up, never had another comment about it.

My car is blue, so i'm thinking 35 should be light enough, but make it hard to see in for guages, stereo, etc.

if you tint. don't tint too dark. it gives theives easier time to hide. i say 35% is dark enough. but don't use a sun shade. it also help them hide better. my friend is an ex car thief. he got caught a while back. he helped my get my crx harder to get stolen, and broken into. he's says nothing is 100%. if someone really wanted your car they can get it.

and to answer the original question- id definately tint it. I hate driving around and having everyone see me in my car, feels like im in a fish bowl or something. Its also good for keeping the heat out, and keeping people with bright lights behind from blidning me ( the idiots in hummers and other suv's). Its true that some cars, especially the silver and white hondas, look better without a tint. But, id rather have privacy and a non hot car.

im 6'3" also, and im my 02 civic ( which rides too high ) i feel like im too big for my car and stick out. Im my 99 it rode much lower, and also had limo tint in the back, and pretty dark tint for the sides. in the 99 i felt much more comfortable. The first thing i noticed in my 02 was how bright peoples headlights are- i didnt notice this in my 99 because it was my first car. I need to tint my car too
