Default Wet Floor!!! Help!!!

I have a 92 eg hatch, and yesterdat it was raining alot and next thing you know my lil bro tells me my floor is soaked! So I look over and see that on the front passenger side my carpet was soaked!!! I never seen this happen before I lifted the car and didnt see anything my next move is to remove the carpet and see. My question is, has this ever happened to anyone before? And if so what did you do?, what was it? Thanks again H-T guys!

Pretty common problem, actually. Could be the weld on your firewall connecting your wiper cowl tray to the rest of the car, could be bad weather seals around the doors, could be leaking sunroof drain tubes, etc.

Also, once your get that much water in your car, your carpet is probably a week away from turning into a moldy shitpile that you'll have to remove. Might as well pull the firewall mat, sound deadening and miscellaneous interior **** while you're at it .

Its wierd though because its dead in the center of the carpet. Right where the front of the seat ends on the floor not near the door or fire wall. Its just dead center. Every direction around it is dry.

mine did that also, on the passenger side.....it happened everytime i turned on my AC. it ended up being the hose on the bottom of the condenser (i think) that leads to outside of the firewall

Have u pulled the carpet alrdy?

What happend to my car is it was too low and i bottomed out somewhere and it punctured the floor of the car. Water was spraying underneath from the tires.

I had to rip out my carpet, Firewall padding stuff, it was nasty. about to Scrape off the floor. Someone asks " Wheres your carpet" i look at them and say "Weight reduction, y0 !"

My hatch is bone dry inside. But that is because I have used aquarium silicon around my firewall on the pas. side. This is actually a very common problem and Honda even sent out a report about it leaking there. Good luck

Well I thought i found the problem being under the dash where the fan is that blows the air. You remove that and theree is a little vent that open there that can be seen on the other side if you remove the little plastic thing under your wipers. Well around that there is a sort of thin, ruberish gasket that came loose so i put some silicone on it and 2 screws to hold it up. Now today its raining and its still leaking!!! I have no holes under the floor and i know its not coming from the door or the windshield and I have no sunroof. So what can it be? It is driving me crazy now i got to take out my seat again and lift the carpet again!!!

My 95 CX has a very small leak on the driverside carpet. Good thing it's not a large leak cuz it's been raining heavy here. I pulled the carpet to find it's not as bad as I thought, but I have to get it fixed.

Well if just the floor is wet then you got a leak coming from the floor. You gotta trace this leak back to something. I still think that it is either leaking in from your firewall or blower motor (prolly from around the fresh air intake for your blower). Just take off the cover and make sure it can drain properly around the opening and that where the fresh air goes into it there should be like a built up "seal" around the opening. Also does it still have the sheet metal "sheild" facing the front on the one side? It's not from the door and you don't have a sunroof right? Try getting some aquarium silicon and build up the seal around the fresh air intake for the blower. And pull the carpet back from the firewall and run a bead in the corner.

Go to the car wash with your little bro. Sit in the car as he sprays it in different angles. THat should help you find the location of the leak.

Well I thought i found the leak but it wasnt. I thought it was the little gasket typer around the intake that sucks air in on top of the blower aka the fan under the dash. So I put silicone on it and two screws but nope still leaks!!!!now what?

You gotta trace the leak back. Can it drain properly around the opening. If not it will build up and leak in. Make sure it is clean and water can flow down the sides where the drain is.

Yeah, thats pretty common to have that. Like I said before, take some aquarium silicon and run a bead down the firewall corner on the pass. side. It will stop it and check your blower motor fresh air intake too.

Caps Lock= **** duct tape, you know it will just peel off when it gets wet again don't you? Do it right with silicon. Just lay it on and it will be fixed.

If so, then it's coming in from the firewall.
