grinding noise brand new honda civic
I have a four month old Honda civic with 4000 miles on it and yesterday I noticed what sounds like a grinding noise coming from the engine.....in a new car!!!!!! When I called to set up an appt for service the guy said he couldn't be sure if that would be covered in my warranty!!!! Any advice on what this could be??????
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, grinding noise isn't too specific so it's hard to say. Did you actually make an appointment? Even if I know what's wrong and how to fix it, I still bring my ish in if it's under warrantee.

I'm taking it in tomorrow for a previous scheduled oil change and the guy said they'd look at it. I'm more frustrated that a new car is making noises that I would compare with my old ford probe that had nearly 200,000 miles before I had to put it down!!!!! Could the grinding noise be from the need of an oil change???? I'm just baffled at this point and can't believe that I'm having to deal with this for a car that is virtually brand new!!!

Seriously, it's probably just something loose, and not a big deal. My mom's mudflap came loose on her new civic, and she didn't want to drive the car because she thought the wheel was going to fall off. Just make sure the tech hears the noise and diagnoses it. I'm sure it'll be fine.
