Default Hissing sound + Brakes are rock hard + car dies when come to stop

So yesterday and last night I started to notice that my brakes were starting to act funny. When I would press the pedal, I'd get this hissing sound , and my brake pedal would be rock hard yet my brakes wouldn't be working that well.

The hissing is getting worse and the brakes are stopping to work less and less. I'm rather worried that my brakes are going to pop or something along that line. All the brakes are stock 88 dx crx.

Do I need to bleed my brakes lines? or is it the master/slave cylinder? brake booster?

I am getting this hissing sound from down by my feet whenever I press my brakes also like a vac leak.

Any help is apperciated.

it sounds like your vacum brake booster went bad thats whats causing you to have rock hard brakes and it also could explain the hissing sound and i'm pretty sure if the vacum leak is bad enough it could cause your car to die when you come to a stop

thats what im thinking. start you car and spray carb cleaner on all the places you have a vacumm connection and places where the injectors go into the mainfold and where the manifold meets the head. it will tell you real fast where your leak is. you car will start to idle up.
