Top hats really that important?
I baught a set of coilover for my 92 hatch and it came with 4 aluminum top hats. I didn't really think that i would need them so i just used the stock top hats. But one of my friends told me that i should have put them on because they would make my handling better. Are they really that important or am i cool the way i did it?

I agree with Street Ghost. I don't see why your stock ones wouldn't be ok.

the top hats that come with those ehgey or even the gc coil overs should be used they keep the spring in place when your bouncing around! there is always a reason why a part is made- use it !
When I bought my GC/Koni combo, they did not come with a top-hat of any sort - I was to reuse my old ones (replaced the two bushings though).
GC does offer an extended travel top-hat; Is this what you recieved with your shock purchase?
The issue with using GC's is that there is no pre-load on the spring (unless you're at minimum drop height), which I believe is what b204dr is talking about. Using the GC extended travel top-hats would allow a drop in height while also keeping some pre-load on the spring during rebound.
