Oil in Spark Plugs.
I need some help assessing what the problem is. My sister drives a '96 Honda Accord and on the way home her check engine light comes on. A friend of hers tells her to check the spark plugs and wires to make sure that they are all good and not causing a cylinder misfire. When I got home I checked all the spark plugs and all of them had oil in them. There was no oil in the cylinders but the spark plugs were drenched it oil. Now I know that that is probably an gasket and O-ring issue. My question is could this be causing the check engine light to come on? or could this be causing a cylinder misfire?
go to autozone they check ecu codes for free...if a number comes up look it up online n find out what it is, i would change the plugs, gasket, n then oil.
I just got back for Auto Zone and they gave me a code reading of P0420. The guy at Auto Zone said that this was an oxygen sensor in bank #1. I checked it online and it tells me that it's the catalytic converter. What do you guys actually thing the code is?
P0420 is a cat code. The plug tube seals at the top of the tubes are your most likely culprit for the oil in the plug tubes. Thye cam tower o-rings are the ones at the bottom that to replace them you have to pull the cams and rocker assembly. Not an easy job. You then have to readjust the valves. Depending on mileage and abuse it is more likely that the tube seals at the top are leaking instead of the cam tower o-rings.
