Default problem getting into gear

i have an 88 civic...i just did a B18a swap...got it running yesterday and it wouldnt go into gear when the motor was running...it would just grind, yet when the car is off it goes into gears fine...it is an LS cable tranny with a ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch with an extreme pressure plate and pro lite flywheel...i tried using the stock EF clutch cable but alas it snapped....now i am just using the 92 integra clutch cable that was originally used on the motor when it was in the 2nd gen teg....any ideas?

Probably needs to be adjusted, the clutch sounds like it's dragging.

If the clutch plate is not alighned perfectly with the pilot bering when you installed the tranny, it will cause a bind between the input shaft, and the clutch plate splines. How hard was it to get the trans bolted to the engine? If you forced it then you are going to have to pull the clutch back apart, and check for damage to the clutch plate, and the input shaft splines.

when i put the tranny on the motor was out.. so it was easy slide right in
and i'd be impossible for the clutch plate to not be alligned with the pilot bearing.. the tranny wouldnt bolt up at all if that was the case

Try adjusting that screw under your tranny. I think it's 14mm or 17mm bolt.
From the passenger side, you can see 2 bolts under your tranny. Slightly loosen the one that is further away from you. (I wish I had a picture) Shove a washer on the bolt and tighten it. Becareful because there is a spring that comes out from that hole.

Thats all I can think of if it's not a clutch related problem.
