Default High revving LSVTECs, chime in!

I'm curious to know how high you all take your LSVTECs, what mods you have, and how your bottom end is built.

I'm running a balanced LS Crank, with ARP rod bolts.. I keep mine at 8100 (rev limit), but I usually shift around 7900.

Mine is almost finished, I don't think I'll be revving over 8500 ont he track, and daily, MAYBE 8k. The bottom end is freshened with stock LS rods, JDM ITR pistons and ARP rod bolts...everything balanced. I just don't want to push my luck...

I dont' have a lsvtec but I'm going to be building one over the summer. I noticed you said high revving lsvtec but you and everyone included isn't revving the **** out of theirs considering 8000rpm is where everyone revs them too.....

the difference is though you spent some serious money on the bottom end. I don't think many of us did that lol. Frankly, I'm scared to rev much higher than that even with my ARP rod bolts.

From what I have heard LS cranks are only supposed to make power up to about 8800. But from expierence I have shifted multiple Ls/Vtec's between 9 and 9,500K
So pretty much shift up until it stops making power.

yes, well i suppose thats true haha.

personally i wouldnt feel safe revving past 8000 on stock internals. my power peaks around 8000 rpm anyway...but it doesnt drop off drastically so revving a little bit towards 9000 carries me higher into the range after the shift.

My CTR cams should make power past 8K, I would really like to be able to, we'll see how it does after tuning...maybe I'll get to shift a little higher. REMEMBER, the object is to NOT blow the motor lol! Seriously, I'll prolly keep my shifts less than 8k unless I'm on the track...

Had the same setup, I just used gsr bearings instead ( that's where I think the problem lays in "true stock LS/vtec's" ) went to 9200 RPM's.

If your road race then the arp bolts are good, but you dont really need them if you drag. Remember tuning is key to everything aswell.

SADLY, I don't know of like a universal rev limit for them of any point. I'm just going to keep it conservative until I get it tuned and let my tuner tell me what I can rev to and not bomb it lol.

Rev until you stop making power.

I don't know too many cams or motor setups that actually make power beyond 9K RPM.

I plan on revving mine till 8500, using BC stage 4 cams, but dyno will determine..

Crank isn't what dictates where an engine peaks. Headflow and r/s ratio do. I serioulsy doubt you drove any Ls/Vtec's that "Peaked" or stopped making power at no 9 or 9,500rpm. Unless you had some REAL serious cams. Did you dyno them to see they quit making power there or did the *** dyno tell you?

Damn... thats a lot of RPM. I'm just concerned with spinning another rod bearing.
