Default Michelin pilot powers???

Any feedbacks on these tires as far as Milage wear? Im in the market for some new tires and thinking of getting a set of pilot powers. I just moved and gonna be using my bike( I have an 02 R1) for commute 3-4 times a week freeway miles and some Canyon riding. Work to Home is about 70 miles round trip. Just wondering if the pilot powers are good or should i consider other tires. If so, what other brands are good for my riding needs. AND also, shops have told me to switch to 180 instead of the factory 190 rears. Good or bad move?
Thanks

Everyone Ive talked to loves them. Ive heard they last 1-2 seasons depending on how you ride. I would stick with whatever the factory tire size you have. Lots of R&D in our bikes.

You'll probably get around the same mileage as the other street performance tires like 208's, m1's, or bt012's. Ive heard a lot of good things about these tires except that when they finally begin to lose traction they slide out with no feedback. I plan on trying out a set after I finish the rest of hte rubber on my bt012's.

you do relize he is in la - their winter is some rain

i havn't ridden them as of yet - but if you are using these for 70% commuting and 30% fun - consider getting a sport touring tire like avon makes - or even the pilot HPX series, which are meant for larger bikes anyway - they have a reinforced sidewall that not only stiffens them up a bit, it also helps to disapate heat in the tires and thus they last longer... when i worked at the bike shop last year i sold dozens of HPX's to all kinds of bike owners and they normally saw 10-40% more treadwear out of them

personaly i run 208's cuz i got em last year for a good deal, have close to 4k miles on them and still have plenty of tread left
