Your question is very open ended. First specification would need to be Price, That's most likely going to be your deciding factor. Second is going to be the goal of the system and it's components. What are you trying to do, have a "good" sounding system overall, a Sound Quality based system, or SPL or Volume oriented system.
Then you need to know the vehicle your using (For space/fitment restrictions).

Assuming cost is a factor and you are wanting an overall good sounding system I would stick to JL Audio as much as possible. For mids and highs possibly Boston Acoustics. Head Unit Eclipse.

2 5 1/4 type s speakers
2 6x9 type s speakers
Alpine v12 Class D
and 2 12in Alpine Type E's in a q logic box

and the thing was clear as a bell and f-ing thumped

9 out of 13 world records for loudness say Digital Designs are the best

your going to need to spend a grand on power for each one.. guys in competition are giving them 8-12,000 watts RMS and they are taking it! they get alot of the materials from NASA..

since the company has made studio monitors for years and years they have a firm grasp on sound quality as well..

And how many SQ championships have DD won in IASCA - I'd feel confident saying none....they are good at what they build though.

The question is far too open ended, and I could put together a laundry list of companies who I think make the "best" of something, but it wouldn't apply to this guys goals.

So from what he's saying, he shouldn't use Digital Designs, right?

What about the MMATS the qestion is just way to open ended and even if it wasent options play a huge factor in to everthing.

SQ subs - JL's hands down lol..., some others are IDQ's, Adire Kodas, RE SE's

SQL - Adire Brahma, RE XXX, Magum d2, SoundSplinter Rl-p, ID Max,Diamond

SPL - Kickers solo barics L5 L7 and Solo X, DD''s, Orion HCCA, RE SX's and Adire MT, MMATS, DP's

again, there is no "best" system lol... its all personal preference and money also plays a big factor
