b18c break in
hey guys just rebuilt my motor and was wondering the best way to break it in. my friend said to leave some extra valve lash in the valves until about 1000 miles on the motor and not to run above 4000rpm. i was also told that i should use 5w20 and cange oil at 500mi, 900mi, and at 1200mi change to synthetic oil. Does this sound right? If not any recomendations or help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks
Motor specs:
machined crank
eagle rods
10 over arias 9.0:1 pistons
block bored 10 over
proline rod and main bearings
stock cams
stock valves
type r clutch
p72 ecu
Bulding for boost

another question guys, since i had the stock block bored out 10 over to compensate the pistons will the block be ok to boost or am i asking for trouble?? i am just worried about the cylinders being weak. thanks!!!
i think u should look for a post by earl.. if ur motor is built properly there u shouldn't have to worry about anything ,, the only real thing u gotta do is seat the rings , so basically start it up hold it to maybe 3-4k rpm's for like a few minutes and thats it .. use whatever motor oil u plan to run in it , u don't have to use different weights then switch thats bull...... i'll search for that thread and put a link here
here ya go .. if u know who he is he builds some of the best engine's in the us

yeah theres many myths about breaking in a new motor .. which some may work .. but are not really nessisary, the main thing that i think is stated in earl's post is proper tunning!!
