Default Automatic transmission

I have a 91 accord lx and the auto tranny sux. It's a honda auto tranny. I know, I know. Is there anyway to fix this problem that I'm having.

when I make a turn really quick and then step on the gas, the rpm would stay at about 2500 and then jump all the way up to like 4000. Is there anyway to fix this? Someone said to use a tighter spring in the tranny and that I can buy parts at autozone. Is this true?

Check your transmission fluid level when the cars is warmed up and parked on a level surface - you might be low on fluid. The person who mentioned the spring may have been talking about a "shift kit". I do not think there is a shift kit available for Honda automatics. Honda valve bodies (where the shift kit springs would be installed) are not accessable with the transmission still in the car - the transmission must be removed and the case disassembled in order to access the valve bodies. On most American cars, there is a transmission pan that can be removed to access the valve body while the transmission remains in the car, making the installation of a shift kit feasible.

Well no.... fluid level is fine. Spark plugs are fine. Some one said to get a transmission kick down lever. Its 8.99 at autozone. I have no idea what that is.

no just make sure the kickdown is adjusted properly. use a long screwdriver or anything else with about a foot length and rest it on the end of the lever. when the throttle linkage is moved (when you press the gas) the screwdriver should come up at the exact same time, no later.

also, fluid level doesnt mean anything if the atf is burnt out. check to make sure its nice and red with no burnt smell.

My accord is doing the same thing. My boyfriend mentioned something about needing more transmission fluid...I guess I will try that out and see what happens...

check to see if your lockup is properly working. if it is slow to disengage, it will cause the car to lunge. My car did the same thing and all I did was to change the fluid at the honda dealer. solved the issue for the most part.
