Got a 89 civic si, it has a body kit. I need stock looking bumpers. I know the crx front bumper doesn't work without the fenders. Does a crx bumper fit the back?

Can you use a coupe, or sedan front and rear bumper on a hatch without modification? Or will only the HB bumpers fit? Is there any difference in the 88-89 civic bumper vs. the 90-91 bumper?

wow. the rear bumper will fit with some work, like drilling the hole for the trunk popper and stuff, but the attachment isn't quite the same, so you'd need to either rig some zipties or something or get a crx bumper bracket too. for the front, 88-89's have slightly different grilles and blinkers, but nothing major.

 

This may be a dumb question, but on the CRX it's easy to take the fender and then door off. On a hatch, it's not as easy cuz there is a bolt that holds the fender on, the is hidden by the front of the door.


Anybody have directions on how to take the fender and door off?

 

well, on my side i carefully used a wrench and moved it at like a 12'th of a turn until it came out, big pain. on the other side, it was so rusted that i could just get at it with a rachet... nice. after that, i put on crx fenders.

Swappable Front bumpers for the HB...with no modding
Front:
88-89 Civic HB
90-91 Civic HB (need brackets from rad. support)**
88-89 Civic 4 door
90-91 Civic 4 door (need brackets from rad. support)**

No other rear will work. 88-91 HB is the only one.

(**) This applies for the 88-89 HB bodies 90-91 bodies are vice versa the brackets.
