broken valve cover scre cap
has anyone ever had this happen?...while i was puttin' my valve cover back on my engine...i tightened the little cap that holds the cover down so tight that it broke the screw coming out of the head...so now i have a broken screw from the head and part of a my valve cover not tightened down
can a machine shop fix that by drilling it out or somethin'...would it cost a lot?

just get it replaced, you can do it yourself.
go to the dealership and buy one and take off your valve cover, unscrew it and screw the new one back on, and be gentle putting the valve cover back on.
nothing new, its happened to me twice

alrite..thanx...i was thinkin' i might be able to do it myself...i'll look at it tomorrow...how much does it cost for a new screw and cap?
I broke one on my GS-R before and the stud only cost $5 from a Honda dealer.
You won't need a new screw cap if you can get the old one off the end of the bolt, unless you think it's cross-threaded really bad.

yea i broke one off my spark plug cover the other day, but i have broken them off my valve cover also, pain in the ***. and really annoying.
It is annoying but nothign to worry about. I have one that I have been meaning to replace. The new bolt has been in my glove box like 6+ months
But hopefully, I can get around to doing a valve adjustment next weekend, since I should get my car from the body shop this monday.
Make sure you use a torque wrench to put in the new bolt.

i was doing a valve adjustment with Gee3 the other day and we snapped one of mine. its $5 from acura and its a snap to install. what really sucks is if you snap one of the outer studs that come out of the engine block, thats when you scream bloody mary and curse the hand that made you do it!
anyone know what size screw this is from the dealer? i bought both of them, one is longer than the other so anyone know which size goes in this spot? the guy at the dealership had no idea which one it was cause his lil' computer didn't show the back side of the valve cover where i broke the screw
