2500 would get you the full b16 swap, 2500 would get you the LS and a bunch of extras. Same for the b20, but you'll have to source all the seperate pieces obviously. You might be able to get away with cr-vtec for 2500 if you get killer deals, but in the end I'd go with the LS. B18's are great daily drivers, they have the torque and good hp numbers. Realisticly your 4th gen doesn't really need that torque and would be fun (and faster) with the b16 - depends on how you use your car. 81mm pistons are also cheaper and easier to find [no type-r b20's ]if you ever want to bump the comression.

If you ever turbo it, the LS would be the best IMO. It can still grunt down low, whereas the b20 wouldn't get traction as easily due to low-end torque.

I went from a 12:5 comp b16 to a 9:1 b20. And I tell you the b20/vtec is so so worth every penny. You don't have to run the hell out of it everywhere you go. And you won't ever say, Damn I wish I would of went with the b16.

Personally I like the b18a1 swap because its versatile and cheap. If you boost it then you keep the engine stock and apprently you can easily make a reliable 200whp. And if you go the NA route then you could grab the b18 and slap on a Type R, SiR, or GSR head and a few other bolt-ons make some pretty decent power for not that much money.
