Default wheres your sedan gauges at?

hey guys,

ive been running my 91 hatch now for over a year and never had a problem with gauge locations (pillar pod). anyways i picked up a project car for my company to do some work to, its a 93 civic sedan (lx with a d16z6).
we already have the complete turbo kit minus injectors (uberdata for management) and come to a problem. we noticed that autometer sells it's pods for the 2/3door civic and not the 4door. im not looking for a universal a-pillar. im wondering where people put their gauges, custom pods etc. i started making a 3 gauge box pod for above the climate controls (blocks vents, but no biggie). its out of aluminum.

we have our Boost, Oil pressure, A/F, water temp, and also have a Volts gauge for the car. We are looking to have the oil pressure, boost and water temp close to the steering wheel as possible.

i am just looking for some pictures of where people mounted their gauges.

thanks.

Something out of the ordinary would be putting them in the optional audio console that the EG's had. I don't have any pictures though sorry. Good luck.

That is an idea, but I think mounting critical guages down there like boost, oil pressure, and oil temp, might render them useless. They are not really in the drivers peripheral vision and he/she would have to take their eyes off the road to see the reading on them.

I would suggest you fabricate a pod for them so they could be mounted on top of the dash. I saw a thread about a pod like that a while back. It held 3 guages and sat just in front of the big center vent on top of the dash. It looked pretty good too. Good luck.

yeah, i was looking at replacing the upper vent with a pod. my sisters 95 civic has that optional audio console, i wanted to steal it from her

anyways, ill post some pics if we get some gauges installed. im really looking more towards the driver peripheral vision like you said.

Thats a good point with the vital gauges not being in vision all the time. I never thought of that, it would be sweet for a VAFC or different gauges down there. Let us know what you do.
