Header/Exhaust install.... Help please!
I installed my DC S/S 4-2-1 header today without a problem. It took an hour or so...
I figured that the install of the exhaust would be just as easy. I thought wrong!
I couldn't separate the catalytic converter from the B-Pipe. The nuts are frozen solid on the bolts. What can I do to get them off? Has anyone experienced this?
I was able to take off the GSR tailpipe and replaced it with the Type R tailpipe. I will run it like this until I can get the cat/b-pipe separated.
Any ideas or helpful hints?
Thanks!!!!

I just brought it to the local shop and after spraying some stuff and hammering a socket head onto it they were able to get it off. Cost me a grip though.

Did you guys replace these bolts with some Zinc coated Stainless ones (maybe with some locknuts) that won't freeze again by any chance; that would take care of future problems, or did you just re-use the ones that were seized up (doubt it). I can't believe Honda/Acura won't just put some good bolts that won't rust up reall quick in there...it's all about the cost I guess.
installed an exhaust on a 94 the other day and the bolts were completely frozen/rusted with no chance of using any wd-40 on them, so we took the cat off from the header and then used a dremel tool and cut through the bolts then just found some spare bolts to put back in it, not that tough but it took a little while
Same exact thing happened to me, except I drove around with nothing but the b-pipe and resonator after the cat! Damn that puppy sounded rough!!!
Just drive it on over to the local admissions place, they'll take care of it. Take the new muffler with you, cause they'll go ahead and install that too!

when im removing tough nuts and bolts i use a breaker bar...i know its not the "mechanics way" but it works just fine...i have a long pipe that i slip over my wrench...it allows me more torque i guess...
i had my car up on jack stands in the garage and soaked it in WD-40 the night before the install... then used a breaker bar and they came right off.. before that.. it wouldnt budge.. i didnt wanna break the bolts.. so i just waiting until the next day..
you can take it to a muffler shop too.. they shouldnt charge you THAT much..
