Default How to make 200wHP NA on a GSR?

What setup will get you to 200wHP? This is with a stock GSR with bolt ons.. What kind of cams would you recommend?

ur going to need more than cams to get 200 whp for the gsr. u will need high compression pistons, stronger rods, balanced rotating assembly, cams, cam gears, higher output injectors, chipped ecu or hondata, skunk2 manifold, jdm 4-1 header (or something similar, or some bad-*** race header) 2.5 inch cat and exhaust, and tuning, and dyno time, and tuning...and more tuning.

i might've missed some other things but that'll get u started. hth.

A port job is an essential element as well.

hm...i'm also wondering how to make 200whp going n/a. Here is my planned set up for this summer.

JE Pistons, New bearings, Eagle rods, ITR cams, Skunk2 cam gears, Skunk2 Intake manifold, vtec controller, OBD 1 p28 chipped ecu w/harness, ITR cai, JDM inner vavle springs.

I'm still debating 10.5:01 or 12.5:01 compression. 11.5:01 compression will cost me extra for a custom piece. I'm just worried about detonating with the 12.5:01 compression.

Anyways, all that is with my current set up, aem cai, jdm 4-1 header, apex n1 cat-back. I'm hoping for at least 185+ whp with that set up.

try to get the highest compression pistons that u can get away with without detonating. it's better that u spend a little more now than regret it later when the engine is put back together. i have 12-1 rollerwave pistons and i haven't detonated yet. i just use 91 pump all the time and that's it. just make sure that u do ur research and ask around. also, make sure that u get a 2.5 inch exhaust -- u don't want to have a bottle neck...especially if ur pushing 200+ whp. also, just make sure that u get 310cc injectos to fuel ur new setup. with 12-1 CR u don't want to run that setup hard without the injector upgrade or u'll melt ur pistons.

hth.

Anyone have any experiance with Web (Webb?) cams?

How do they compare with the TODA or JUN cams?
Any idea of price or a website?

Thanks

Hmm my friend said this setup will get me to 200HP to the wheels:

ITR cams, ITR valve springs, Skunk2 gears, Spoon b18c5 balanced pistons, V-AFC, FPR, JDM 4-1, high flow cat, and custom mandrel 2.25 exhaust. What do you guys think?

i say you're shy 15-20 whp

Horsepower doesn't come cheap, especially with n/a.

Of course you might be lucky and have one of those magical motors right out of the factory, who knows.

You're gonna need at least a new intake manifold (preferrably skunk2), and i don't think the compression will be high enough with the spoon pistons. Don't forget a new OBD 1 ecu, that should yield maybe a few horses if you're lucky. I would say that if you got a port and polished head, 200whp would be very possible.

it's sad, but true.

also, if ur going to build...or try to build a bad *** all motor setup, that 2.25 exhaust is a no no. go for a 2.5 and maybe u can stretch it out to 3 inches. but 2.5 would be optimal.

This might give you and idea.
185-190 whp - AEM CAI or or Injen CAI or Comptech Icebox, 62-64mm TB, single runner IM, Spoon or Toda A or Skunk2 or Crower 63403 , VTEC at 5300 rpm, 8700 redline min (ITR outer/Portflow inner valvesprings), 11:1 or more CR (USDM or JDM ITR pistoms/ITR rods) , JDM ITR 4-1 or SMSP 4-2-1 adjustable header, 2.5 in. cat.

210-215 whp: AEM or Iceman or Injen 3 in. diameter intake, 64-68mm TB, single runner IM, Toda Spec B or C or Jun Type 3, VTEC switch for Todas around 7200-7500 rpm and Jun 5700-6300 rpm, 9200-10,000 rpm redline (Toda valvesprings), 12:1-12.4:1 CR (CTR or custom pistons like endyn Rollerwaves or Toda pistons with 1mm head gasket [stock head gasket thickness is 0.8mm] / ITR or Endyn Eagle H beam or Crower I beam or other brand rodpoo pooech or Spoon or Toda hybrid long primaries/tri-Y 4-2-1, 2.5 in. cat.

There is one other option build an all JUN engine. 230 to the wheels. 2.0L GSR pricy but mid 13.x's all-motor.

what about:

AEM CAI, ITR ported TB, Skunk ported IM, JUN 3 cams + cam gears, JUN valetrain, Hondata Stage 2 chipped P28 ECU, Portflow headwork, JDM CTR pistons or JE pistons, Eagle Rods, SMSP 4-2-1, carsound 2.5 cat, Type 1 Titanium Exhaust(if u dont mind the sound!!)

if u got big ***** and a hell of a lot of money!! bore an LS b18b to 84mm then to get around 2 liters and fully build the bottom end and u can get like 230 whp and kick some ***...thats of course with all that other poo poo at the top that i listed...and a hell of a lot of money for dyno time!!!...have fun reving!!!! ALL MOTOR BABY!!

go get a turbo from a thunderbird or a ford mustang . u should be able to get
200-250 at the wheel easily with no intercooler. buts its only gonna last for 2 months without new piston, rods, valvesprings, valves etc. Turbo only cost me 100 buccs.
