d15b vtec swap trouble PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!
Me and my buddies swapped a d15b vtec into his 90 crx si. we used the obd-0 to obd-1 conversion harness and a p28 ecu. we changed the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. when he drives normal, it stutters around 2000-3000 rpms. When he accelerates hard, it smokes alot. its grey smoke tho, so i assume that it is running rich. Can someone tell me whats wrong with this ish? any help will be greatly appreciated!
ohh yea.....we left the injector resistor box on it too, im not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
I tried searching for some answers, but found none.

black smoke means you are running rich
gray smoke means burning oil
or your hosing is hooked up wrong water in the block...i dont know

OBD1 injectors cannot have a resistor box on them, that'd only for non-OBD hondas
remove that and try again, if there's still issues check the timing

Check your timming with a timming light, adjust for it. Also, Whats/hows your idle??? Ide remove the Resistor box completly, are the injectors obd1? if so. Wire them directly.
Maybe your plugs are fouled, check those. check your wires. Check your GROUNDS. make sure there ALL tight. replace them with bigger grounds if you choose.

it idles fine, i guess i could check the timing. im pretty sure the grounds are all hooked up and tight too. i have brand new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor....so i doubt its that. any other suggestions?
yea its all obd1... my friend got the jumper harness from ardperformance.com, and it said on the directions what wire to hook up to check for codes, but he threw the sheet away so now we are screwed until he gets more directions. i really dont know what else there is to replace to make it stop stuttering.
i'd call ARD and have them tell you what wire to make the CEL blink... without knowing what codes you're throwing you're making it much harder on yourself. why not just spend the 10 minutes to hook that up and know what's wrong instead of the 10 hours of exploring and posting?
you are using odb0 or obd1 injectors if you are using obd1 injectors than you will not need a resistor box because they are high impediance injectors if you are using obd0 inj. than pull your plugs and check to see if they are fouled up.
im trying to get my friend to call them, but hes bein slack about it. that would make life alot easier! im gonna see if he will call them today, and while hes doin that im gonna switch the 02 wires around and see what that does.
as stated before its all OBD1 not OBD0. as for the jumper harness, we hooked the wires together to check for cels and the engine light stayed on, wasnt blinking. what does that mean? thanks
