Default New gauge faces, need help with electrical

Ok so i installed these new gauge faces that i got from ebay. They're these ones right here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW
Well i got em installed and everything and tried to turn em on without the stupid switch thing that comes with it (cause i always want my gauges on while my lights are on, duh! Stupid company :\). Well being that it was just a switch, i ran a screwdriver across the two switch leads and it lit up, so i said "w00t" out loud and proceded to spin the two leads together. Much to my surprise, they dont turn on. So i basically have reverted back to their stupid switch when i turn on my lights So is there a way i can get this thing to stay on? Anyone have any experience with these or anything?

Also, when facing the front of the fuse box under the steering wheel, is the protected (fused) connection on the top or bottom? I dont have a voltage tester so i couldnt test to see which part had no voltage

I haven't put these on a Honda before but on my old car all I did was the same thing you did. I ran the line to the wire that ran the lights and put it in after the switch. The only thing that I can thing of is that you wired it to the wire leading to the switch instead of the the wire after the switch.

Good luck man.

No because the lights are all female connectors and the switch is a male connector
