Default what would I need to do to swap a D16y7 into my 89 Si??? i just need a newer motor

I found a clean y7 for really cheap I was wondering what I would have to do to run it in my 89 crx si. My current motor has 260,000 miles on it and the y7 seems like a decent replacment for the old a6 unit. what do you think? I figured that since the y7 is non-vtec it should be reativly cheap to drop in. Am I wrong?

Well, you wouldn't need much. You would use the y7 engine and use your Si transmission. I believe the y7 had a hydraulic transmission, so save yourself a huge headache and use the si transmission.

Also I believe the y7 is obd-1 motor. So if you use the ecu from the y7 you will need an obd-0 to obd-1 conversion harness, and to wire the 4 wire o2 sensor, you can keep the obd-0 injectors along with the resistor box if you chose to go obd-1.

I am sure you can use the pm6 ecu and stay obd-0. If you elect to use your pm6 ecu then use the distributor off your A6, keep the intake manifold, injectors and resistor box and put it onto the y7. Both don't have vtec so you do need to worry about that.

Yo whats up man, you dont need anything, if you already have an Si you can use your 89 Si Wiring harnes, ECU, Tranny, Intake Manifold, & Dizzy. just take all that off your old motor and put it on the Y7 and drop it in. I did the same thing with my D16Y8 V-tec and i nsed a MSD RMP Switch to cut on the v-tec. but if you have any more questions just give me a shout.

there's a link to show you exactly what to do. it will fit in your Si. just use your orignal trans, an dyou have to shave a little of your timing belt cover to fit one mount.

let me get you the link. Some of it is kinda fuzzy unless you are looking at it while reading it.

eventhough this is for vtec. it works for non-v newer motors. just depends if you want to keep obo-0 or convert to ob1 you will need certain things. you will see what i mean when you read this page. I was planning going obd1.

well this is what i would do....i would get the y7 put your a6 intake manifold with injectors and your a6 distributor use your si tranny and si ecu and your a6 manifold unless you already have a header.....pretty easy swap to do and i think gude head is too much $$$ for what you get, you could do some bolt ons and get a delta cam there cheap and add some power. good luck
