Default Should I upgrade the timing belt?

I already did a search and found a few mixed reviews. If I have a fully built cyl. head (cams, gears, springs, ret.,& valves, p&p) the whole 9, on an N/A app. that will be drag racing quite a bit and auto-x on occasion. Would I be ok using an OEM timing belt or upgrading to a Toda or other "better" unit? I would rather be safe than sorry but I dont want to waste alot of money for nothing. Thanks for any help.

why people go with anything other than an OEM belt is beyond me.
yea, i've heard a few stories of belts snapping with large cams.. but i've also seen many backyard mechanics overtighten their timing belts. regardless of how big the cams are, honda deisgned the belt a specific way and a specific procedure to tension it.
i've always done the "tighten tensioner, rotate 3 teeth, loosen and tighten" technique and i've never had a problem.. even with toda or jun or whatever the **** cam is cool today.

so in a nutshell, go OEM and install it properly. it'll be fine.

The size of the cams have nothing to do with the timing belt. It's the pressure of the valve springs that works the timing belt. Obviously if your springs are on the stiff side, your belt will have more stress to it. I use OEM though.

That is pretty much what I was thinking! Big cams are ok, I was just concerned about the extra abuse that WILL be going at these parts. I have been running the cams for some time now on an OEM belt, but when I rebuild the cyl. head in a few weeks I would rather not be overstressing an OEM unit and take a chance at destroying the love of my life. I just think that guy has "cam envy" .

use oem but if your springs are real stiff just change it more often
