Default Did rule changes over the off season really slow anyone down????

First off, let me say right now that this is NOT a complaint post. I am making this post independently and in no way reflects the feelings of anyone at Paradise Racing. I'm just curious to know how everyone feels about the rule changes over the off season. Did they change anything? Let's find out:

Brent Rau: 7.35 in 2004, 7.31 in 2005
Paul Efantis: 7.4x in 2004, 7.4x in 2005
Justin Humphreys: 7.9x in 2004, 7.44 in 2005 and also, 190.16mph *record*!

Ron Lummus: 7.9x in 2004, 7.9x in 2005
Gary Gardella: 8.0 in 2004 with B-series and X-Trac, 8.0 in 2005 with Ecotec and Hydramatic

What does everyone think? I'm curious about this and I'm sure Glenn and Jim are, too.

Here is my out look on this subject.

The organizational bodies have and always will change rules to try to slow cars down. This happens in both drag racing and all other forms of racing. They just did it in top fuel with the amount of nitro they are able to run and the amount of overdrive they are able to run on the superchargers. The great thing about racing is that the owners, engine builders and crew chiefs are some of the smartest and most innovative people in the world. They are always finding ways to make more power with in the rules. Limit the turbo size and they will find ways of making up the power in the flow of the heads or manifolds. Maybe they will find different ways to get the car to hook up better. So while other people complain (and I am not saying you are complaining but some people do) I say bring on the rule changes they in the long run make us all better and smarter racers. The rule changes are made to make the fields closer and provide better competition. The fans do not want to see a 16 car field and know who is going to win before the weekend even starts. Also if you have one or two teams that just out perform the rest of the field you will have people that will just not build cars to compete and will have smaller fields. Which again the fans will not like. As we all know without the fans we have nowhere to play.

That’s my $0.02 Again this is my opinion and is not to reflect at all upon my team or our sponsors.

It sucks to see the rule changes so soon.
It would be nice to see what alot of the new innovations could run without being held back. Especially since most of it is being done in FWd cars or small motors, cars that everyone said wouldnt do what they are.
It would be nice to see Let the cars run without these major limitig factors for a ffew more seasons or so. Let them Get more research and Development behind all these Ideas that are out there and then start Changing rules to bring them Back slower when they are deemed too unsafe.
