Harness mounting?

For anything other than autocross (read: low speed) it would be totally insufficient and dangerous. Even for autocross, you should use a harness bar at a minimum.
Other experienced people might also say:
-- Don't use a harness on the street.
-- Don't use a harness without at least a roll bar, because in a rollover the harness will hold you straight and you'll get crushed.

Why Do these guys on here with racing seats have racing harnesses, and they drive on the street?
I was thinking of getting a harness whenever i got my seats, But I need clearification...
