A few nights ago a received a call at work around 5:30 am. It was the miami dade police department asking if I have reported my car stolen. I was shocked. I stated no. They informed me my car was pulled over in dade county on a routine stop and found two males in my car. They had stolen my car from an off site parking lot with a security guard on property. Funny thing is I work security. I'm the dispatcher for the hard rock security here in Hollywood fl. So as you can see our security sucks. There are no camera where we are forced to park and the security guard has to stay inside an office. So no one is watching out for anyones safety or vehicle safety at the parking lot. I refuse to park there. I'm now parking in the garage on property with one the overhead cameras fixed and focused on my car. I'll eventually get caught and written up for it. But I don't care. So my car was recovered before they could strip it. They damaged the molding on the passenger side where the door meets the window. A few pry marks on the roof line. scratched tint, torn rubber sil an a busted tail light. Once they got inside they used my own tire iron to brake the ignition bracket which locks the steering wheel. and simply removed the two screws which holds the on/off switch and off they went. So now I'm replacing parts. I couldn't believe how easy it is to steal these cars. Once you pull the molding off. You can reach in with a stick or pencil and pop the door is unlocked. I'm now looking into an alarm. kill switch and etc. I was lucky. I just had the b18c swap completed. I have c/f hood, duckbill. susp. SI wheels new seats and etc. I only have pip and lib. insurance. That will have to change. And I had to pay to get my car back. The police wouldn't allow me to come and pickup my car. They had it towed. $151.40 to get my car back. Today I receive paperwork from miami advising me who these people are and what has happen. Well they bonded out in a manner of hours. And are charged with a felony. Grand theft. So they are back out on the streets. I'm here trying to fix the damage they caused.

 

damn dude sorry to hear they stole it but im glad those bastards didnt get anything of yours, i was looking into a sparco steering wheel w/ a realease hub so i can take off my steering wheel when i park...

 

How much is that wheel/release mech. gonna cost?

 

its pretty expensive, the hub alone is almost 300 bucks, but i believe its well worth it if you have the money, i have heard of other companies that make them for cheaper, like in the 100-200 range but i dont know of any in particular

 

at least those idiots got caught and you got your car back. What happened to them two?

Well they will have a court date,both charged with grand theft auto. One of the guys took my cell phone from my car. And they caught him with that also. So petty theft or possession of stolen property and obstruction of justice for lying about stealing the car in the first place.

Heres what i dont get. Say if you get the hub with a detachable steering wheel and you leave your car blah blah blah someone goes to steal ur car and they cant. So what they do is steal your steering wheel. Now what?!?!?! Is their a key for this?? Someone explain this to me

 

I believe the idea is to take the wheel with you. And because the hub is changed only your steering wheel will work.

you are very lucky they didnt get very far. especially with the little insurance coverage you have.

fix the unfortunate damages and get yourself some better security (alarm, kill switches, detachable steering wheel, etc). the more crap you have, the better.

Well, your wheel, or another wheel by the same mfg. If you park in the same area every day (job), and they have enough forethought to plan ahead, they could steal someone else's wheel.

Have you thought about a fuel pump cutoff switch? Lets them turn the engine over, but won't start.

Had my ride broken into twice. Both time with a chuck of flat blade screwdriver in the ignition. Just got a Tekniq wheel. http://www.tekniqauto.com/US/home.htm VERY nice unit but you can't switch steering wheels like a sparco QR hub, Momo, etc. One matching connection. Glad to see have just alittle headache rather than a total lose.

Well, Yes, we are extremely understaffed and underpayed. So they hire alot of lowend people shall we say. And you get what you pay for. As for myself I worked as a correction officer for BSO for 13yrs. I was terminated for something someone did. I've been fighting my case. I should know the results in a couple of months. So I see alot of things that are wrong. And when you reports it nothing seem to change. And to be correct it's the tribe of the Seminole Indians. they pay to use the Hard Rock name. SEMINOLE HARD ROCK HOTEL AND CASINO OF HOLLYWOOD.

the 1st drug test I took I couldn't **** so he told me I failed the test later on after I finally pissed. After I got bonded out I found out from another p.o. that he tricked me into signing a confession. Fucked up I stayed clean too bullshit. I did smoke they day before court so i thought that was it and he told me all kinds of **** like it came up recent and crap. He cannot tell that.


His *** should be kicked out :/ sorry for the rant.

 

I plan on taking of my door panels and try and add some metal plates to keep anyone from doing this again. Or at least make if more of a challenge.

 

That's ok. I think most cops are dicks anyway. I worked in the jail.
But I have friends who are cops on the street and I understand. They must take control of every situation because they never know what weapons anyone might have or what you might do. They have the right to protect themselves.
