will a 7 inch tire fit on a 5 inch wide rim?

 

what is a 7 inch tire? what is on the sidewall? 7 inches = 177mm. yes, a 177mm tire will fit on a 5" wheel, but i really don't understand what you mean or where you got that number from.

Werd. Tire sizes are specified with treadwidth, aspect ratio, and wheel diameter - for example, 205/50-15.

Whatever make, model, and size (e.g. 205/50-15) of tire you're considering, look up the specs for that make/model/size. You can find them on the website of tire dealers (e.g. Tire Rack) or the tire's manufacturer. It will show an "approved rim width" and you can use that to determine whether the tire will fit. If it says that the approved rim widths for a given tire are 5.0-7.0 inches, then you can use it on a 5 inch rim as well as a 7 inch rim.

 

thanks. i was talking about drag slicks. they are 7 inches wide and i know my steelie is 5 inches wide

What's the brand and model, and what's the size on the sidewall?

 

i don't know anything about drag slicks so i'm out of this one
