15w30 in my H23... why shouldn't I?
I'm not sure if i'm leaking more oil or burning it more but I have been thinking about putting a thicker oil in my car to help maybe not loose so much oil all the time. I loose about a quart or so (not really sure) over 1000 miles every time. Would running a heavier weight oil in my car be a bad idea? My lude has 139,xxx on her right now
Where do you live and how is the temperature? It's starting to get warmer here in arkansas and I was thinking about putting the 15 in there soon but is there any reason to wait? Also, why shouldn't i put such a thick oil in there in the winter? Is it because the oil pressure would be high as hell? Another thing too, how long did you run the 20w-50 and what does the 50 mean
in the summer time where i live it's easily in the triple digits. i wouldn't use that in the winter time because of how think it is. for lack of a better explination in winter time when it gets real cold thick oils work against moving parts at startup and dont lubricate as well. it's kinda like syrup. which pours easier? cold syrup or hot syrup? obviously hot. well thick oil in the winter time is much like cold syrup. sorry for the bad analogy but i think u get the idea.
