Vibration in shifter (found out it's not rubbing anything)...what could be wrong?
I brought my car to the exhaust shop yesterday, and we ended up dropping the exhaust by about half an inch. This left plenty of space between the shifter and the exhaust, yet the shifter still has a pretty strong vibration above 4k (vibrates the hell out of my spoon ****).
The mechanic said that he could feel the vibration down the shift linkage, which leads me to believe that either the motor mounts or transmission mounts might be farked, but i'm not positive. In addition, i've noticed that on the freeway, my rearview mirror also vibrates.
What might the problem be? And if it is the tranmission mount, where can i find them (i have no idea where they're located).
