Rod knock as well, but it always sounds like marbles.
What motor? Could be on it's way out.

Well my friend took the car to the shop and it came out worse... She said it sound like it has marbles I haven't looked at it I'm just trying to get some opinions on what it could be before I actually look at it.

Why did she initially put her car into the shop?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well it's a friend of a friend so I'm not really sure... Let me find out and i'll post more info.

Yup.

Yup.
i've got marbles in my **** too...only hear it at about 1/3 throttle in all gears. It's a cross between the sound of my car digesting marbles and almost a sputtering sound. I want to say I feel a slight loss of power too.
from what i can tell it's either...
ignition timing
belt timing off by a tooth or so
dizzy cap/rotor bad
valve lash needs adjusting
I'm leaning towards the timing because I feel a slight loss of power as well, and for some reason I just don't think it's the dizzy. I replaced my plugs/wires last week, so I know it's not that. I'll be posting results as soon as I do anything.

A rattling sound at a certain rpm/throttle could definitely be the rod bearings. When mine went I only had the rattle part throttle (more if there was a load like an uphill). For the longest time I thought it was my exhaust rattling.

You are a moron. Do you have any idead how many different things this could be?
Leave.

No one's mentioned the possibility of bad Lost Motion Assemblies. Mine have been making the same noise you guys are describing for quite while now. Mine is a certain rpm rather than dependant on throttle. did a valve adj., checked timing, tried pulling the spark plugs to test for rod knock, and its still here. waiting on new lma's, but I'm almost certain that's what it is.

Thats pre-detonation at its best, i would just run better gas!
