hi, i m driving a eg9.. but my turbo is spoil... now i am thinking either change a 2 litre engine or change turbo? i wan my car to be fast.. pls help

Instead of spending cash on a different motor and trying to sell the old one, get turbo cams and/or a different turbo. A bigger t3/t04 or a precesion turbo would be perfect, assuming you're already using a turbo with a t3 flange.

As for your 2nd fscked up post, I'm assuming that when you say "if i use back turbo, can i win a car w/ b20 engine?" you mean if you use the same turbo, will you have a fast b20. If the turbo isn't big enough for the b16, it will be even worse on a b20. People have managed well over 300hp on stock b16's, and with high-lift short-duration turbo cams, you may not have to change anything else. Otherwise, sell that turbo and spend the cash on a much better unit.


edit: reading your 3rd post - I don't think you should be modding your car. If all you know about your vehicle is that "your turbo is spoil" and it has a b16, you need to do much more research. If you could tell us WHAT TYPE OF TURBO you have, WHAT BRAND/TYPE OF MANIFOLD you have, WHAT SIZE YOUR DOWNPIPE & EXHAUST is, maybe we can be more helpful. Otherwise we can't say much more than 'me likey big turbo, they non spoil, you get now'

Read my previous edit and post that info. As for what your friends do and say, a well oiled & cooled turbo combined with you letting it warm up and cool down properly will stay in great condition for a LONG time. It also won't matter how big or small the turbo is - if you treat a turbo like ****, it won't last long.

I'll tell you this. If the two options you're looking at are A) <u>getting a b20 and re-using your current turbo kit</u> and B) <u>keeping your b16 and swapping in a bigger turbo</u>, you'll have even more problems with choice A). The reason is that you still can't feed that turbo enough air, and it will still suck.


Yes a b20 is usually a better daily driver since it makes much more torque when not making any boost, but for racing, b20's tend to make more power at low rpm's than street tires can take. The other point is that a b20 can't take as much boost as a B16 since it has much thinner sleeves. The b16 has higher stock compression, but it also has much tougher rods.
