Default Type-r trans Vs. Gsr trans

Got one for you guys, On a all motor car would it be better to run the stock trans(GSR) or switch to type-r. I heard and i might be wrong, but the gsr trans is better.
Please i need input.

Ive had both and they are very similar. 4th gear pulls like crazy in the ITR.

B16 and typeR tranny have the same gearing for the exception of the Final Drive(if you have the JDM ITR tranny).

Type-R tranny is a lot better; shorter gear ratio and an LSD. I have a gsr tranny now, and i hate it. Even shifting out of first gear and 9 grand, i will still fall out of vtec when going into second. It is a horrable, horrable feeling

I have a GSR trans now too, and I hate 2nd gear! I pull hard in 1st, lag a lil going into 2nd but pull through in the upper rpms; but 3rd and 4th pul extremely hard!

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I'm afraid i wont get any value for my old gsr tranny with a slight 3rd gear grind. Or am I just being silly

Then something is serioulsy wrong. I remember when I owned a stock GSR and it never fell off the cam from the 1-2 shift. Even with the stock rev limiter.

92-93 GSR trans is even shorter than the USDM Type R(4.40 final drive)

http://www.autocrossing.com/cgi-bin/gearcalc.cgi

check out this webpage, you can compare USDM B16/ITR, 94-01 GSR, LS, and 92-93 GSR. So you can see the exact differences in gears. its a sweet web page!!

with 28000 miles no grinds, no lsd, i paid 800. you could probably get like 600 i would think.

i find the gsr tranny to be too tall for an 8k+ redline. the only way i'd be satisfied with it is by putting a 4.785 final drive in it.
