Default If you had $25k what would you do?

Saving up all summer to get one of the following because my civic is getting old and dont want to swap it. well my decision comes down to a 00-02 Honda S2000 or a 05 RSX-S. two totaly different animals. i know the RSX would be a much better daily driver and the S2K would seem to be a more fun car to drive. I dont know what to get. any help or advice from you all would be great.

S2000 vs. RSX-S
2.0 liter vs. 2.0 liter
FR vs. FF
240 HP vs. 210 HP
Two seater vs. Four

dang i dont decide. help

03 S2k, tha'ts the best one ever.

But if it's gonna be your only car, you might wanna think of RSX-S. S2k is really fun to drive which I don't need to tell you I'm sure you already test drove one by now. But daily driving in an S2k? .....

Or you can also do this. you can find '00 S2k with under 30k miles for around $18k. Then with the rest 4000-5000 you can buy yourself a nice civic /accord for your daily driving.

If gas prices continues to go the way they are, i'd pick up a 05 RSX-S . 23/31 mpg is quite efficient. Just a small factor you want to keep in mind...

RSX = good mileage, more room and can be modded to near S2000 performance.

Me, I'm gonna get an S2000 for my wife when her crap Camry dies. Then I'll have both!

I just got the 05-S and I love it. I miss my DB8 but this car is amazing. With a decent I/H/C/E your looking at 200whp.

Here is mine bone stock. Just got it Monday.

If you need a daily driver and your taller than 5'11...DO NOT buy the S2000. You will regret it everyday you have to squeeze yourserlf in and out of the damn thing. I bought our 04 NFR s2000 for my wife last august, and typically she drives it everyday to and from work...no problem, she's also like 5'4 so its a little different, when i get in it, im having to pry my *** out of it...trust me, i LOVE the thing, and its a blast to drive (totally cant compare an RSX Type-S and S2000, two totally different cars), but as daily driving goes, i cannot suggest this, from personal experience.

My advice? If you can only have one car and you NEED a daily driver, go with the RSX Type-S (but go with a 2003-2004 model)...if you have $25,000 that will leave you with some cash left over...invest that money.

In all honesty, i wouldnt recommend either car...i'd say get you something that gets good gas mileage, you can tinker with if you want to (maybe a 99-00 Si coupe or something)...and then take the rest of that cash and save it...thats just me though.

BTW...if you DO decide to look more heavily into S2000's, get a 2002+, you'll thank me when you dont have to replace the plastic rear window from the 2000-2001 every 2-3 years because it's fogged up and looks like crap.

Aside from the 2 vs 4 seats consideration, why is this even a question?

Get the Rsx, you can upgrade a rsx really easily past a stock s2k. It will be cheaper which means easier payments if you just get a 02-04. Plus that means its paid of faster with the ability to mod it faster. Plus you have the fact thats its fwd alot easier if you have to deal with snow if its your daily driver, a bit less theft issues since its a rsx-s vs a s2k, bigger trunk, the ability to have 4ppl in your car, 4 seaters are usually cheaper on insurance vs a 2seater. A s2k seems to attract more attention from cops. But if your just looking for an all around good car that you wanna leave stock and its just a performance issue. The s2k is great with suspension and motor performance out the door, great in auto crossing. But its your choice just weigh out the pros and cons, I listed alot of them for you.

^^^ Comparing modified RSX's vs. other cars is just silly...of course you can build ANY car to perform with and past the S2000...i could go get a ******* ford Taurus and do that...why is it everytime these kind of questions come up its always a few people that have to be like "Oh dont get that car...you can modify this car and it will outrun that car..." It's like WOW! You dont say!

If you want to talk performance and power...the S2000 wins. Modify both cars equally and the S2000 still wins. But its like WHY compare them like that? These kind of questions should be setup up pretty black and white...

"If you were to walk into a parking lot with $25,000 and a bone stock 2002/2003 S2000 and a bone stock 2005 RSX Type-S were sitting there, which would you choose?"

...also...as far as paying it off faster, im guessing he was planning on spending the same amount for one or the other...so technically, they'll be paid off at the same time, the exception being you MIGHT get a better interest rate on a brand new RSX Type-S than you would on a used S2000.

Neither car is better than the other in a general sense, its all about preference and opinion...in a factual world, performance wise the S2000 comes out on top, for people hauling and insurance reasons, RSX...lots of variables.

I don't know what state he's in - but if you're in a snow/rain area, there's huge advantage to the RSX-S. RSX is practical but still fun to drive - S2K is very fun to drive, but first time you try to take it skiing or buy a new TV set with it...

No, you're never going to match the performance and handling of an s2k with an RSX $ for $ - but owning an s2k almost requires that you also own a pickup, suv, wagon, or some other practical vehicle to go with it.

I 100% agree. Which is why we have a CL-S and soon will have a Ridgeline. The S2000 is certainly NOT a car i recommend as an "only" car.

hypnosis if you would of read the post for the whole thing and not just pick bits and pieces to chew apart. I said that stock for stock yes the s2k will win out. But for practicality for your only car a rsx would be better for the issues I stated above. Everyone knows you can mod a car to beat a stock car. Comeon lets not bash on ppl just trying to give some advice with my experience of owning a rsx-s and driving my cousins s2k and his experience.
