hey guyz...
2 questions if anyone can help me out.. i got a del sol 94 - manual trans

1) there was a weird rattle like sound when i hit 2500 rmps.. but now its getting louder.. and its not restricted to that rmp n e more.. it just happens ususally all the time.. very annoying.. i checked out the exaust and its not that.. n e suggestions?

2) my car used to give me up to 350-400 on a full tank... now i can barely pull off 300 and thats highway miles... i drive from michigan to newyork alot.. and i seem to be using up a bit too much gas.. tried some of those fuel injectors... but nothing seems to work.. n e ideas?

1) rattle at 2500rpm is usually the heat shield, it's not easy to see. crawl under the car and tap the exhaust, you'll see/hear it.

2) your O2 may be going bad.
have you done a tune up?
(new air filter, fuel filter, cap/rotor, plug wires, plugs)

"I tried some of those fuel injectors" - what? do you mean fuel injector cleaner?
or you replaced the fuel injectors?

 

the rattle sound is probably the engine pinging. check the timing, tune it up, check the O2 sensors and try a higher grade of gas

 

i had a problem in my truck... it turned out being U-joints worn to ****... check that... can also cause vibration thru the car at higher speeds or even at lower speeds...

 

FWD cars dont have U joints

 

Probably the heat sheild someplace. And yea, replace the O2 sensor(s) and do a tune up.
