Is it possible to shave a +40 offset wheel 5mm to be +45?
I have four +45 offset rota slips. One is slightly bent. I can get my hands on a replacement wheel but it is +40 offset.
Can i take it to a shop to shave off 5mm from the back of the mounting point of the wheel?
Or will having one wheel sticking out 5mm more be so negligable that it wouldn't really matter?
EDIT: Fixed the post, I switched around the offsets.

EDIT: Re-reading, your title is asking one thing and the post is asking another...
This applies to the post:
I think you are thinking about it backwards... Provided all the rims are the same width, a +45 rim is going to be 5mm closer to the inboard/suspension side than your +40's are. You can just add a 5mm spacer to push it outboard and make it match the other three.

I'm an idiot.
Fixed the post.
My slips are currently +45, and the one i'm getting is +40... I could get three spacers for the other wheels but a little weary of runing spaces in the first place.

if the replacement is 40et then to get it to 45 you have to shave off 5mm adding a 5mm spacer to a 40 offset wheel will bring it to 35et. the poster ir correct with his assumption... a shop can shave it for you but consult them to whether its safe to do it... btw, slips came in a 45et? hmmm didnt know that...
OK makes sense now... Yeah machine shop or a wheel repair shop (someplace with a lathe that knows how to use it, etc.) should be able to handle shaving the one wheel down.
Some manufacturers start out casting a wheel with a thick hub mounting face and during the finishing process, machine it to varying offsets. Saves having to have separate castings for each offset.
