go to inline4.com or summit-racing equipment and get Crower Valvesprings, they are only $185 on these 2 sites. Also I use factory retainers b/c they are stronger than Ti retainers and I dont plan on going over 8500 rpm so Im not worried about lightweight.

Click on "MY SETUP AND DYNO" in my sig. It doesnt look like a link but it is!

so if you build a ls and keep the factory retainers, you could rev to say 8000 on that head?

I do no problems! I the B16 revs to 8200 with no problems on factory retainers, and they are made of the same material(retainers).

I also run stock retainers and crower springs with big LS cams with no problems.

using stock internals it should already be balanced, unless you replace the Pistons, and then all you have to do is weigh them and make sure they are all within half a gram of each other in weight! If not then go to a machine shop and tell them to balance them! If you have the engine all apart still then go ahead and weigh everything!

pr3's are close to 10.8:1 and p30's are 11.0:1. they should be fine with 404's. i think the "sweet spot" for 404's is 11.6-11.7:1

Yes, go with an OBD-II pump. All B-series oil pumps are the same after 97
