Default Door hinge is broken... any suggestions?

This is the broken part. you can see where the arm has broken through the door sill. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggested fixes?

pull the pin holding it in, hammer it as smooth as you can get it, weld it. easy fix.

Yup, knock that pin out, but now you just gotta be careful when you open the door so you don't bust the hinge by flinging it wide open. I'd rather have no popping noise though.

Dont just pull out the pin and call it a day I tried that and the door wont stay open for anything.....pull the pin and get it welded then put the pin back in best way to so it and it will be back o normal you can even sand down the weld nice and flat looking and paint over it so it wont rust

Depends on where you use it and how you mix it, I have used it on an exhaust for a quick fix, well it last about 2 years. Also used it on my itb's and it worked. You always want to try to put something behind it though for added stability.

Anyways, my Dads 1990 hatch has the same problem, I'm gonna weld it for him.

Who welded it, maybe they did not get good penetration.

some guy at my dad's work. he is a profesional welder that makes trusses and platforms for stages and 100+ tons anamatronic figgures (like disiny land cariters)
so he is more than qualified but he said it waqs very diffucult to weld sheet metal.

that piece takes a huge beating.

I ment hammer the piece around the hinge back smooth, if its smooth you dont need to hammer anything, then just weld the little hinge back onto the car to strengthen it. From the pic it looks fairly rusted so im not sure how well itll hold.

Ofcourse it also depends on how many times your door swings open and how much abuse it takes. If its constantly being pulled and its a little rusted then its going to rip right out.

The last resort would definitely be to cut the piece out and weld in a new one like DieMaster said, it really all depends on how bad the piece is. If the piece is rusted to hell welding isnt going to do it much good.

someone should fab up a few plates with a slit just open enough to let the part closest to the door through then weld the back to the part that always damn breaks.then you could just weld the plate and use a couple screws and grind them back. I hate the damn pop, and thats what im going to do.I just needto find a way to get it on around the little silver piece that comes from the broke *** piece.Damn japanese planned this and i know it. Anyone have an si-r or ukdm crx whose doors pop?

If people want these, IM me and I will fab something up. Welding probably would be required, although if I can make them a screw in deal I will.

i know it sounds kinda getto but u could use those drywall screews that have the springloaded "backing" so u drill a 3/8 hole, insert it,the springs pop out and u tighten down.

Screws are not a problem, I just got a welder so I would weld mine. If people wanted to screw it in, I could make it like that. But right now only 1 person IM'd me and he never emailed me back.
