crower 403's
I am wondering how long crower 403's in a b18b will last on a stock valvetrain for those of you who have this or similar setups. I have been running this setup with a stock redline for a while with good results but just wanting to know how long i can keep it like this without worry. They are currently untuned and the valvetrain is a bit noisy even though they have been adjusted multiple times but i am aware that this is common. Please share some info. TIA
Many have said that you will be fine with stock valvetrain if you dont plan to go over stock redline?? Is this true or is this just what people think?

Thats a stupid statement on whoever told you that. Anytime you go with a cams that has higher lift than the stockers, you need valvesprings. This will cause valve float too(cam lift too much for springs).

Skunk 2 doesnt make nonvtec cams! I used to have 403's, and I think they are a great street cam. They make good power without losing driviability.

I think some ppl are confusing the 403's for the 63403 Crower Vtec cam! As far as I know we are talking about the Crower 62403 nonvtec cams.
Anyway while we have ppl posting on the Vtec 403's, does anyone have dynos on these cams. I have always heard they make really good power.

dippinDC4, call Brian Crower and ask him what he thinks; he's been very honest about this type of thing with me in the past when i was running his stage 2 and then his stage 3 (currently running)

I've been running 62403s for about two years (20,000miles) now with the stock valvesprings and I've never had a problem. I ran an Auto-x and DE each month for the first year and a half, and now just an auto-x every month. I usually shift at 6700rpm, and I even missed a shift once and my safc recorded a peak rpm of 9011, that was over a year ago and still no problem.
I actually talked to the guys at crower before I put the cams in and they said it would be fine, but only if I kept the stock redline.
It's up to you if you wanna take the risk, I haven't had a problem but that may not be the case for you.

Close to stock! You will use a lil more gas but not really noticable until you floor the gas!
