installing oil squirters in an LS
I am interested in installing oil squirters in my Ls but im having a hard time finding and info (pics if possible) ont he subject. I remember seeing it on CRVtec a while back but i cant find it anymore. I searched everywhere but to no avail. The is an oil "rail" on the LS at the same spot on the block as it is on the GSRs. Anyone have any info or is it a waste of time. I know about the loss of oil pressure but i plan to possibly shim my ITR one. Any thoughts?
I haven't done it, but I have heard it's a large pain in the ***. It has to be done correctly, and I heard that's hard to do. You're best bet would be to just get some forged slugs for the heat. Sorry I couldn't give you any firsthand experience, but unfortunately this hasn't been done a lot.
Yea i would just leave it, the oil squirters have to be put in perfectly to work. They will also set the block unbalanced. I've seen many built GSR blocks for turbo and NA with some with as much as $5k into them, and they almost always weld the oil jets closed. I agree with WAFFLES just get forged pistons!!!
I have an ls/vtec and was going to do the oil jets thing, but you really don't have any room for error as far as placing the oil jet at the correct height so the piston skirts wont hit them.
