WANTED? SRS Module Sensors Belts Retractors Buckles Bags "What do I do?" info
2001 civic LX sedan ... I have heard so many OPINIONS and STORIES (all different so far) Here is mine: Bought as REBUILDER ... SRS light stays on, Horn works now that I replaced it with a used one ... I took it to a shop and they charged $40.00 to say I should get a "module", pay to have it installed, THEN test rest of SRS system to determine IF I need "retractors" and/or seat belts. The belts in the front do not work, but if you are SKINNY and PUT THE SEAT ALL THE WAY BACK they will buckle turning off the seat belt icon light BUT THE SRS STAYS ON ALWAYS, the belts in the back seat will pull out and buckle but will just get tighter and tighter once they are buckled NOT LIKE THEY SHOULD BE! There are airbags that LOOK like they will work, I am assuming that they were replaced, but of course I know of NO WAY to tell if they will work or not without some type of TEST, right? I see other posts about different SRS issues ... Somebody give me the straight dope on this PLEASE!?
Thanks
BUT I need seat belts ... How do I get them to work? Why do people turn off the SRS anyway? I would prefer STOCK, but think I would even be happy with aftermarket seat belts ... BUT i do not find any for this 2001! Can I bypass the SRS for the bags and make the seatbelts work or what? Thanks for ANY info .... This is a FAMILY car and I would like it to be SAFE. Parts are REAL HARD TO FIND (here in OKC anyway)
