Default OT: -->ATTN: Anyone from Australia

I noticed that there are a couple of people that post in here from the land down under...

I'm gonna be visiting Brisbane/Surfer's Paradise on 2/28/02 I'm just curious if you can give me any tips about renting a sporst car down there. What kind of sports cars are available to rent if any? Where should I go to check out the import scene down there...

P.S. I've also been told that GTA3 is banned down there. so if ayone is interested in one of those. I'll bring some down and we can work out a deal...

I'm from New Zealand, but I've been to the Surfers every year for at least the last five years so..

There are a couple of places which rent sports cars, we hired a Z3 a couple of years ago (1.9L slow as hell!!) the same place also had Boxters etc no really high end stuff though. The rent was fairly step and the insurance excesses were very high but its a nice way to see the coast and inland water-ways. There is also a couple of places which hire out Mustangs etc, but your probably not interested in them.

As for the import scene, dunno where to go but be prepared to see lots of riced Hyundais (sp?) and Daewoos (sp?)

Sam

P.S you should be going in late October so you can see the CART race

Dunno anything about the car hiring but we do have GTA3 here, if you're talking about the game. Also, if you're from America, or any NTSC country for that matter, the games won't work on our PAL systems. We can only share games with the European countries.

We've got too many Korean cars. But have fun while you're here

Yeah strange thing that, lot of korean cars. We don't have GTA3 here any more, was banned after it failed to receive a classification by the Office of Film and Literature Classification, lucky got my copy just before they took it off the shelves
As far as hiring goes, Hertz does rent out Z3s and i think they might rent out mustangs as well.

There are a few import shops in queensland, J's Racing was one of them, can't remember the rest. Anyways have fun when your here, Australia's a mad place

There is place in the down under to rent good rice burners mostly korean cars but hey if you want something semi-fast and no one will care if you destroy it get a hyundai. They are so fun to destroy drive them off of cliffs and so forth sometimes even ramming better looking more expensive cars off the road (that is fun : ) any ways destroy a lot of things and dont get caught later.
