Using it tonite. My girlfriend Keri hooked it up. Completely suprised me with this miller hood. Auto tint, adjustable lens, solar powered ect....I can't waite to try it out!!!!
Just thought i'd share i got it last night in the mail and im pretty excited. Should be a nice change compared to my old jackson shadow flipdown hood.
Auto tint helmets = teh win.
I remember when i first started welding i had a hard time getting everything in line with the regular helmets.
But with the auto tint no problems.

Yeah, your viewing space will be about half that of the large lens on a Jackson Shadow.

Yah my gf is awsome. I love her. I used the helmet tonite, and i absolutely love it. Really helped me out with my stainless steal tig welding. Could actually hold the piece in the spot i wanted to to tach it up before welding it.

I go back and forth between helmets; Sometimes I want the no bullshit standard flip helmet, and others I want the ease of the auto-flipper.
If Im doing something very tight, the standard helmet is the only way to go because I HATE being blinded. It seriously affects my welding for a solid 10-20 min after a flash. Now I just give up and go get coffee or something

Yah i still find it hard to completely trust the helmet, but i am starting too now. It seems to do the job really well. But for setting up your piece its the only way to go.

i have to agree, ive had my Hornel Speedglas for about 3.5 years now and when its done, i will replace it with the newer digital one like yours...
over time you will quit using the autodark.
when your welding for 7+ hours a day, any autodark crossover adds up and your eyes will let you know
i had mine hand striped:

front

top

we have all miller equipment here and love it.
but, the miller helmet...
Andy here has one and out of the last 2 years, hes probly only put ~20hours on it.
the miller helmet seems to be much easier to block the solar panel and flash you.
which is fine on the Speedglas, cause you just turn the autodark off, and run a shade 9/10/11 etc.. however, the miller doesnt have the option of turning the autodark off..
he switched back over to "ol' faithful", the Huntsman shade 10.
hope this helps

i stayed with a standard helmet for a long time because of that-i was concerned that the smaller viewing area would affect me.a few months ago i got an auto-darkening helmet, and i haven't noticed the smaller area yet.love it.

Werd. My viewing is fine. Granted not as big, but not having to flip your hood up and down every 2 seconds is enough to make me forget about it.
