What should i do to my hatch now?
Ive got a 92 dx, with a d15b7 motor in it with a si head. car just got painted about 6 months ago, i had a front bodykit bumper on there, but now i put the stock one on, and im going to be getting it painted here soon. Right now all i have done as far as performance is si head on the d15b7 motor, intake, full exhaust, and header. It pulls very hard for a d15 non-vtec. I need to replace the rings, cause at high rpms it smokes. What should i do as far as performance, should i just swap another d16 vtec and build that, fix the rings on my d15 and do a mini-me swap, or save up and do a b-series swap?? Any sugestions would be good, and if anyone knows where i can get some stuff for a decent amount of money, let me know, Thanks
well i'm confused as to how you have a d15b7 with a si head and it's non-vtec unless its like some old crx si head which wouldn't make much sense to me either, but thats just me. I have had some fun with my d-series and i would say stick with it cause there a dime a dozen, you could upgrade you injectors, get msd ignition, and maybe find some high(er) compression pistons and run all motor or boost it like me and your you'll be runnin all over most cars with swaps and minor mods.
but like i say it's just my opinion though and everybody has there own.
P.S. nice avatar

b-sereis swap
after my cousin put a 98 vtec engine in his 97 civic and put msd header pulleys c.a.i. intake manifold and vafc, he put a whole 106 to the ground. single cams to me aren't worth it. if they were they would have put them in gsr's 99-00 si's s2000 rsx-s type r
so on and so forth.

Swap the transmission to an Ex/Si unit (from 92-00). The 96-00 are the best choice as they have steel shift forks, but the 92-95 will work just as well. You will really like the better gearing - I promise.
Mista Bone (on here, among other places) is running a similar setup, and is seeing about 125whp. That's right, an A6 camed D15B7 with about 145chp. Now, he has his tuned very well using all the tricks an old timer has along with all the bolt-ons, but it does give you an idea of what this particular setup is capable of.
But, if you are burning oil, it might be just as wise to go ahead and swap to a lower mileage D16Z6 and get Honda build quality. Nothing wrong with re-ringing it yourself, but it just won't be as good as Honda did it originally.
My $.02

i agree you should make up your own mind. there are three categories
1) Exterior... throw some carbon fiber on it, get new head and tails, some lips and spoilers
2) Interior... throw some leathers or racing seats in it, rollcage, give it some ICE aka audio work, a system some subs.
3) Engine.... go swap something. if you want my opinion for a swap thats a whole other thread!
the next choice choice is all about your personal preference.
so the question is what are you ito? number 1, 2,or 3?

well the si head is from a d16a6, it isnt vtec. I just wanted to hear some ideas, on what would be worth the money. I dont want to throw a bunch of money into a whole nother swap, if i can just build/turbo, etc with the same motor for less money. My friend has a ls rex, and he just bought a turbo kit for it, soo i dont think im gonna go ls turbo. Itd be nice, but i dont want to have to do something someone else has in town.
