Default K&N Lifetime Air-Filter worth the cost?

Went to the auto store and found out one of these bad boys cost $45 plus the $10 maintance kit. I'm keeping my motor stock, so i'm not planning to intake it. Any testimonials on the product. Does it really help the car breathe better?

Also, does the tornado air insert http://www.tornadoair.com/HowItWorks.php really work?

Tornado K&N . Just my opinion if it means anything. A K&N will out perform any 15 crap filter and last longer. As for the tornado. I guess I don't really have an opinion I just know I would never use it. PROPAGANDA.

aem cai's use k&n air filters on em.. i've got a cai with a air horn & k&n on it.. i used to have one in my stock airbox as well.. when it turns black clean em, oil em up and toss it back on.. they're reusable.. so, why fill landfills if you dont have to...

I actually met someone last week that had a K&N filter setup on a truck (I believe a Nissan) and the oil they use to oil their filters ruined his mass airflow sensor twice.... I dont think I would let that bother me though; its just a thought

they have all different sizes.... my friend bought this very odd looking cylinder looking k&n for like $30 from the parts store. It fit on his intake arm, and it seems to run pretty good.

Yeah the oil should stay on the filter. May have just not dried completely yet. Time constraints. I know I've done it.

K&N is good though!! A drop in oem replacement OR a cone version on a modified intake. If you follow the cleaning directions to a T it will be the last air filter you will buy for the car. You don't have to get the recharge kit right away, as it takes a long time to require any cleaning in most cases. Also whats different about these filters as opposed to paper is the dirt that collects on the surface actually adds filtration... According to K&N.

A stock 'teg intake already grabs relatively cold air, so a drop in would be beneficial from a gas mileage AND performance standpoint.

i don't know if it breathes better but they claim that it does (the company). to be honest, i didn't notice any increase in power or anything. but i just like the fact that I don't have to replace it ever again.

Buy the K&n because it can be reused, not b/c you might get one more hp out of it (maybe). The tornado is worthless crap, IMO and would be OEM equipment if it worked.

Thats Vancouver, Washington, USA. yeah a lot of people get it mistaken. Can't wait till i move back to my native Bay Area.

So as it looks, its a go on the K&N and a no on the tornado (its listed as $65, looks like it would be a waist of money).

Yeah the tornado is garbage, and I agree with others on the K&N - it may not give you noticable HP gains or anything, but it's one more thing you don't have to replace.

ya I've of heard people hurting a mass air flow meter with extra oil, glad hondas don't use those stupid things. Those things are always smaller than the rest of the intake even on cars like corvettes.
k&N after a few reuses it pays for itself
tornado never heard anything good

you can buy a K&N RU-2820 for about 30 buxs only. Way better than spending twice that for the specified integra one. Just needs a little modification. IF you search, you can find many topics on it. I think Patrick Gsr made up a how to.
