Ideas for cheap exhaust (Gen 2)
I have a bone stock '91 Teg, and need to replace at least the muffler. I'd like some flow, but am more concerned with the sound; NO FARTING for my car. And above all, it has to be cheap, because this is a daily beater sort of car.
So... should I just get a basic muffler?
If so, what kinds should I look for / avoid?
"Turbo", "Chambered", "Straight Through" etc.
I'd appreciate any comments on the 'low end' of the exhaust world.
Also, I've run across this kit from Dynomax - it was made for a CRX, but looks a LOT like it would fit my Integra (remember, the Gen 2 had the transverse muffler);

Does anybody know if this will fit?

turbo mufflers are probably gonna be pretty loud. anything that looks like a big oval, thats probably gonna be loud.
go to carx or meineke and just a regular muffler. a muffler alone is gonna get you any power, youd need the whole exhaust.

obviously anything that's straight through is gonna be louder than a chambered design, Turbo and STraight-through are pretty much the same, get a chambered exhaust, shouldn't be more that $75 or so.

It does look like it'll fit but believe me it won't! I was going to fit a CRX rear box to my TEG, they're totally different when the two are side by side. If you are handy with a welder and grinder you can make it fit, I modded a 1600 civic box for mine, it's the same as the CRX - it's wider than the Teg box, has a shorter tail pipe and different mounting hooks and pipe angles.
I had to lengthen the tail pipes, cut a piece out of the "input" pipe to narrow the whole thing, change the input pipe angle, cut off the flange coupling and re-weld it at a different angle and weld on new mounting hooks.
The only reason I went to this trouble is that a stock or even aftermarket pipe just isn't available for the DA over here and shipping put the price way too high tom buy from the US or Japan...PITA or what? You have plenty of stuff available to you, stock and otherwise...don't bother with the CRX box!
