New baby arrives
I just took delivery of my s2k. Very exited.
As I am trying to be gentle until the engiene is broken in, I am not sure about a wierd sound the engiene makes under acceleration. It's like a loud fan or a second engiene when I go 3/4 throttle open( never did wot) and then after about 3-5 secs, It goes away.
Any insights?

Congrats on your new stook. About the noise I would see if I could drive it out after a couple of hundred miles and see if it completely goes away. If not take her in she's under warranty
First drive impression:
Wierd. I am so used to the ITR and it's rasor sharp handling that the stook had me confused today:
rwd means oversteer when accelerating in a turn. As I feather the throttle in a turn, the opposite happens. I feel an understeer. As if the car is ready to compensate for an oversteer. As I let go of the throttle, the nose tucks in significantly. So much so that I have to steer through a turn. If this is the loss of traction of the front tires because of weight transfer, it is much much more that I would expect from any car, let alone s2k.
With the ITR I just point the car toward the line and it does the rest. s2k acts as if it has some kind of rear steering thing going on.
Any one with experience with both cars care to comment?

Owned both for a year (ITR 00-00981).
You can fit more stuff in the ITR's trunk, but the S2000, uh, well, I got a lot of hate as I was one of the first on this board to transition from ITR to S2000.
S2000 is a drivers car, more so than the ITR, any day in a month of Sundays.

Learn to drive a rear wheel drive car first before you bash a car which is far better than a Type-R any day of the week.
I'm not bashing. Don't you bash the ITR. I am having the hardest time letting my ITR go. There is no way I can compare the 2 cars together. All I needed was to know if That experience was normal or my s2k had something wrong with it, and your post didn't help much with that. Thanx anyway
Rear wheel drive is funny. There's definitely an understeering sensation having less weight in the front of the car, and not powering the front wheels (probably less in the S2K can than in my NSX which is 42/58). Also, keep in mind what you feel at 5/10 (which I'm assuming you're in the neighborhood of since you just got the car) is very different from what you feel at 9/10. If you get the car set into a corner so the suspension and tires are actually doing some work, then hit the gas, it will be very different.
Disclaimer: I haven't driven an S2K. But I remember feeling like I was understeering all the time when I first got the NSX.

Checking your tire pressures wouldn't hurt, if you want oversteer lower the pressure of the rear tires. They should be about 32 psi all around. http://www.s2ki.com/faqs/showfaq.php...threadid=17418
I definately am getting a feel for it. I think I might have been overly sensitive and curious when I had my first drive. I also think that sitting too close to the rear axle may have something to do with it as the car -any car or that matter- pivots while weight transfer.
